The Return
The Return
a woman came to me
but I did not want to dance
and walked across the street to a small bar in the basement of an old brick building
where the arches reminded me of cavalry
whatever happened to the cavalry
what units did they turn into
an old man plays the piano
someday he’ll come along
the man I love
we write back and forth
and your last proposition says something about standing and waiting
but its dark and you’ve spilled beer on the table
the boys in the park
make faces
as we pass
